Work of the Holy Spirit

Today’s devotion is based Galatians 5:25: “If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.”

There will always be a struggle in our daily walk, for our sinful nature, even though crucified with Christ continues to try to gain control of us. That is why we are in a constant need of forgiveness. But it cannot for the Holy Spirit lives within everyone who believes, reminding us when we fall into sin that Christ has made us free from sin’s power to dominate us. Thus, believing in the Holy Spirit is to live our lives by the Holy Spirit, even though we sin.

Please pray with me the prayer for today. Heavenly Father, creator, and sustainer of all things, seen and unseen, thank you for giving me the Holy Spirit, for without the Holy Spirit’s work within me I would be overcome by sin losing the freedom Jesus has won for me on the cross. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
