Reverend Dennis Rhoads is the interim pastor of Saint John the Baptist Lutheran Church. Our congregation has been joyfully serving and ministering to residents of the City of Emporia and Greensville County, Virginia and beyond for many years. We are part of the SELC District of the larger Christian witness of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. We provide a traditional service each Sunday at 11:00 a.m. where God serves us with the very gifts of heaven: His life-giving Word and Sacraments.
Being a Lutheran Christian congregation, we believe: “We are saved by grace alone, through faith in Christ alone, according to Scripture alone.” The mission of our church is to enthusiastically serve God by believing in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and sharing it with the community through our daily lives and service.
From the moment you walk up to the building you can expect…
A WARM GREETING
A heartfelt greeting is part of what makes a church a church. No matter what question you might have, just ask. Our greeter and ushers are there to help you get settled and comfortable.
CONVERSATION
Expect to be noticed. Expect people to say something like, “Hi, we haven’t met before, is this your first time?” Expect for people to reach out to you in love.
TRUTH
The Bible tells us to speak the truth in love. The Bible is God’s truth. At SJBLC, we seek to explore, understand, and apply God’s truth to our lives at every level in a spirit of love. You will find a growing variety of resources to help you grow in God’s truth.
Celebrating our Savior's love continues in the faithful gathering of God's people. Please come and join us to share in the Good News of forgiveness in Christ!
